Pinrates checks your direct-to-consumer orders before they ship, prepares your state sales tax and excise returns, and files them electronically in California, Florida, Indiana, North Carolina, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Your wholesale sales go on your California return too, each deducted with the buyer's license on file. You can see how every figure was calculated, and every price is published.
Start with free shipment checks
Place an order, or paste one in. Pinrates checks it before it ships:
- License. Can you ship to this state, and is your fulfillment partner licensed there?
- Product and buyer. Is the wine allowed, is the buyer 21 and verified, and is the order within the state's annual limit?
- Tax. What's owed, based on the delivery address.
If an order fails a check, it doesn't ship, and you see why. The checks are free, with no card; to start, tell us about your winery.
When a state asks, you can answer
If a state asks why you charged $94.55 on a shipment eighteen months ago, Pinrates shows the order, the rate in effect that day, and the source of each figure. Every shipment check and return is saved with the rules it used.

How we keep our numbers right
- Every number has a source. Each rate links to the state publication or schedule it came from.
- We don't guess. If information is missing, Pinrates says what it needs instead of filling in a default.
