For wineries on Commerce7

Your Commerce7 orders are already the record your returns are built from. Pinrates brings them in, checks each one against the state's rules, and prepares your sales tax and excise returns from them, so nobody rebuilds them in a spreadsheet.

How your orders get to Pinrates

  1. When you start. You create a Commerce7 app for Pinrates and we connect it. Pinrates reads your last 12 months of shipped orders, so each state's running totals, like how much a buyer has received this year, start from your real history.
  2. Each month. You upload the order export your bookkeeper already pulls from Commerce7: orders by paid date, with order details. There is no new report to learn.
  3. Once per wine. The export doesn't say a wine's alcohol or what's inside a bundle, and both change the tax. Pinrates asks once per product and holds an order rather than guess; the hold clears for good once the product is described.

What Pinrates does with them

  • Checks every order against the state's rules: your license, the product and the buyer's yearly limit, and the tax. Anything that needs attention is named, with the rule behind it.
  • Builds each return from the individual orders: state sales tax, wine excise, and the shipper reports some states require.
  • Files electronically in California, Florida, Indiana, North Carolina, Ohio, and Wisconsin, and prepares returns in 26 more states for you to submit, with each state's portal a click away.
  • California: your CDTFA-401 is filed and paid from one screen.

One thing it doesn't do: Pinrates is not in your Commerce7 checkout, so it can't stop an order as it's placed. It checks orders when they reach Pinrates.

Filing from $299 a month. Shipment checks are free.
